Reward Training

You and your pooch will benefit from the reward training method. People cannot imagine life without their dogs. We love and adore them for their loyalty, playful exuberance, unconditional affection, and their zest for life. However, we cannot ignore the fact that dogs and people are very different by nature.

Dogs have some innocent but irritating tendencies like digging, jumping, barking, biting, and more little habits that might make it hard for their human owner's sanity. Teaching your family friend to obey your commands are very important, so that your pooch is a well-behaved family member, and give him some survival skills outside the home.

You can make the reward method simple by rewarding your dog with prizes or treats with correct behavior.

In reward training, the most common type of treat is food.  Dogs love food, and you have to find out your dog’s favorite treat because if he does not like the treat, he might not be motivated to learn. Food is useful in reinforcing good behaviors, but other positive reinforcements such as verbal praise, a pat on the back or even a hug are suitable for positive reinforcement.

reward Training - Tips and Advice

Teaching your dog behavioral skills is not an easy project in the beginning stages of training.  The process will take time depending on how he understands your commands or the breed of the dog. The most common commands to teach your pooch are sit, stay, come, and go.

Positive Reinforcement Reward Training Techniques

Reward training is a useful training technique to teach your dog what is tolerable in and out of the home. Moreover, this technique is a fun, positive and an easy technique for both you and your pooch.

The technique of rewarding your dog is one of the more popular training techniques. Positive reinforcement training works because you give your dog a treat when he completes a command.

The reward method is excellent, but you have to be careful to reward your dog at the right time while his training sessions are underway. If the reward is given unrelated to your dog doing something as commanded during training, he’ll get baffled about what you want from him, and he might start believing that he’ll get food no matter what he does right or wrong.

As you train your dog using a reward technique, you need to make sure that your dog understands that a reward is just a reward and not a bribe. It's necessary to reward your dog for his successful behavior since there is a difference between giving a bribe to your dog and rewarding him for something that is familiar to him.

Owners will give a treat with verbal praise. The doggy treats and praises are a positive reinforcement to help your dog understand that the action that he performed is accompanied by a treat which in turn will help persuade him to repeat his positive actions.

Training Sessions

It is necessary to establish a routine while training your dog. You need to make sure that all of the training sessions are in a stress-free environment and that your dog won’t be distracted from other influences so that he can focus and learn the commands that you will teach him.

Praise and food motivate your dog.  As a result, it is best to start the training sessions a little bit before his regular meals. If he is not working on a full stomach, then he will be more motivated to learn and obey your commands.

You should start with a few simple commands like “come” or “sit.” To start, give your dog a couple of pieces of treats so that he knows that you have them and then back up a few feet and say “sit.” Once he sits, then give him a treat and praise him for a good job.

You’ll have to repeat this step a few times so that he gradually learns to link your command and its completion to the praise or food that follows.  All of the training sessions should be short so that your pet isn’t loaded down with food or bored all at one time.

The next training session should begin with the “sit” command to reinforce the previous session. Next, once he obeys the “sit” command give your dog a new command, such as “come” and repeat the earlier process of reward and praise.

In reward training, the method is frequently employed to entice your dog into the desired position or a stance. The trick is useful in convincing your dog to do what is required.

As you train your dog with the use of the reward training method, you should make sure that you have your dog’s full cooperation. If you have your dog's complete attention, you will have complete control. When executed correctly, reward training is a convenient method that can help you earn respect and the focus of your dog.

Dog barking at something by the fence

You have to understand why your dog is barking. Barking is how your dog communicates with you. Needless barking is an issue that is fixable if you are persistent and attentive at correcting the problem during the dog training sessions.
