In reward training, the most common type of treat is food.  Dogs love food, and you have to find out your dog’s favorite treat because if he does not like the treat, he might not be motivated to learn. You should start with a few simple commands like “come” or “sit.” To start, give your dog a couple of pieces of treats so that he knows that you have them and then back up a few feet and say “sit.” Once he sits, then give him a treat and praise him for a good job. 

You’ll have to repeat this step a few times so that he gradually learns to link your command and its completion to the praise or food that follows.  All of the training sessions should be short so that your pet isn’t loaded down with food or bored all at one time.  

The next training session should begin with the “sit” command to reinforce the previous session. Next, once he obeys the “sit” command give your dog a new command, such as “come” and repeat the earlier process of reward and praise. 

In reward training, the method is frequently employed to entice your dog into the desired position or a stance. The trick is useful in convincing your dog to do what is required.
